Join the digital event “Energy Transition on European Islands: from innovation to implementation: how to make the energy transition on islands a reality?”
Do you know that there are more than 2200 inhabited islands in the EU?
Despite having access to renewable sources of energy, such as wind, sun and wave energy, many of them depend on expensive fossil fuel imports for their energy supply.
Therefore, SMILE believes that addressing the challenges of EU islands is a fundamental step to meet the EU 2030 and 2050 Climate and Energy goals and we are glad to announce that SMILE is taking part in Sustainable Places 2020, a digital event dedicated to the dissemination of innovative technologies and solutions to meet the European Commission Societal Challenges and to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, to share the SMILE experience.
In particular, Stefano Barberis from RINA will share the SMILE experience and explain how to make the energy transition on islands a reality from innovation to implementation.
His speech will focus on sustainable mobility on islands and will take place in the framework of “Energy Transition on European Islands” online workshop on Thursday 29th October from 13.00 to 15.00 CEST.
The event agenda includes also:
- PV and BESS integration (INSULAE project):
- Storage concepts and interoperability (GIFT project):
- Citizen engagement on islands (REACT project):
- the EU Island Facility – NESOI will present and discuss with the speakers and the audience how those innovations may be part of concrete projects attracting investors and thus delivering true impacts on islands’ decarbonization:
