The PhD thesis was funded and greatly supported by the SMILE project, and team. Appreciation was received from the research and local partners in Samsø, Orkney and Madeira.
In January 2021, SMILE researcher H. M. Marczinkowski, from the Aalborg University Department of Planning, has turned in her PhD thesis on Modelling Renewable Energy Islands which defines the role of islands in the field of Sustainable Energy Planning. In-depth information about her research will be published on the SMILE website in the coming months.
