Community Energy Scotland, along with local delivery partners, have installed the first SMILE smart charger at a property in Orkney.
The remainder of the domestic electric vehicle (EV) chargers will be installed once the Covid-19 restrictions have been removed by the UK government. Good progress has been made with the rest of the project installs in the last few months, with 80% of all installations at home level now completed.

Furthermore, energy monitoring equipment has been installed in 27 properties as part of the SMILE project. The equipment is offered to participants who have received a heating system through the project as a way to help monitor changes in electricity use. The remainder of the energy monitor units will be fitted once the current Covid-19 lockdown is over. The equipment includes temperature log tags and an energy monitor which will track both real time and historical patterns in electricity consumption.
